Back With the Living

February 16, 2016

Hello again, world!

As the title suggests, I am FINALLY back with the living.

Where did I go? — you might ask…

…well…

…Baby Saccomanno is cooking away in the oven! Which, incidentally, is inside my body. Which, incidentally, means I have spent the last three months progressively devolving into a moaning, groaning, exhausted, sleepy…actually, make that exhausted-beyond-belief pile of sickness.

Seriously, though.

Don’t get me wrong: I am also excited. So, so excited! I mean, we really wanted to have a baby, and, truth be told, I have secretly harbored a fear I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant since I was in high school. Every time we see that teeny tiny body squirming around on the ultrasound screen, I definitely squeal (yes, squeal), “Oh my gosh! It looks like a baby!”

To which Mike replies, “Because it IS a baby!”

Evidently the fact hasn’t quite sunk in.

Surreal as it may seem, pregnancy symptoms are very real, and they haven’t left me with much any energy for blogging (or doing any other basic task around the house for that matter…just ask my husband). Everyone has repeatedly reassured me in the second trimester I would feel comparatively normal — and they were right! At almost 18 weeks, I feel much more-so like myself! With that being said, I literally slept for ten hours straight the other night and still felt like the walking dead when I woke up.

At least I didn’t wake up sick. 🙂

Anyway, while I haven’t blogged regularly about my latest projects, the activity sure didn’t stop around our house in the past few months. In light of my recent baby news, I thought it would be oh-so-much fun to share the craft project I created to tell our families the good news.

As I discussed in this post, I’ve created my own tradition of crafting elaborate Christmas cards every year (bonus points for making the card to match the gift wrap!). While I knew I definitely wasn’t feeling up to making a card for everyone in our families — sad face — I figured two very special cards would be even more memorable.

In case you’re wondering: yes, we actually took our beagle to see Santa for this occasion (this place in Spokane does Santa photos with dogs every year as a shelter fundraiser). I’m *pretty sure* we aren’t completely insane.

Want more puppy+baby announcements? Honestly, who doesn’t?! This post had so many fun ones that inspired us!

Alright, people. It’s time for me to go eat my weight in froyo.

Before I go, I’m curious: how did you tell your loved ones your baby news? Add your stories in the comments below!
